About:
PiP (Picture-in-Picture) for macOS allows you to watch any video in a floating, always-on-top window that stays above all other applications. It leverages native macOS APIs to provide a seamless, hardware-accelerated viewing experience without browser restrictions. This utility is perfect for multitasking, enabling you to continue working while keeping your content visible.
Key Features:
  • Floats video from any application or browser on top of your desktop
  • Supports native macOS Picture-in-Picture API for smooth performance
  • Customizable window size and aspect ratio controls
  • Drag and drop video URLs to start playback instantly
Use Cases:
  • Watching a tutorial or webinar while taking notes in a separate window
  • Monitoring a live stream or video call while browsing other applications
  • Keeping a video reference visible while coding or designing
Alternatives:
  • Helium – Helium is a similar floating browser, but PiP focuses on leveraging the native macOS system-level PiP for better integration and performance.
  • Browser Native PiP – Built-in browser PiP is limited to the browser context, whereas PiP for macOS can float content from almost any application.
