About:
asciiquarium is a terminal-based aquarium animation that renders colorful fish, bubbles, and seaweed using ASCII art characters. It leverages the ncurses library for smooth, real-time rendering directly in the command line. This lightweight tool provides a whimsical, visually engaging distraction for terminal users.
Key Features:
  • Real-time ASCII animation in the terminal
  • Colorful and visually rich display
  • Lightweight and dependency-efficient
  • Simple to run and exit
Use Cases:
  • Adding visual flair or a screensaver effect to a terminal session
  • Demonstrating the capabilities of the ncurses library
  • Creating a relaxing background for a workstation
Alternatives:
  • cmatrix – Similar terminal animation, but simulates 'The Matrix' code rain instead of an aquarium.
  • hollywood – Creates a complex, multi-pane terminal dashboard that simulates a 'hacker' environment.
