About:
asroute is a command-line utility that parses the output of 'traceroute -a' to resolve and display the Autonomous System (AS) names for each hop. It transforms raw network path data into a human-readable list of ASNs and their corresponding organizations. This provides immediate visibility into the network infrastructure and providers your traffic traverses.
Key Features:
  • Parses standard traceroute output with ASN details
  • Resolves AS numbers to human-readable organization names
  • Simple, lightweight command-line interface
  • Provides clear visualization of network path ownership
Use Cases:
  • Debugging network routing issues and path changes
  • Analyzing ISP peering and upstream provider relationships
  • Verifying traffic paths for privacy or performance reasons
  • Documenting network topology for infrastructure audits
Alternatives:
  • asn-traceroute – Similar functionality but may use different data sources or output formats
  • mtr – Provides real-time network diagnostics but lacks built-in ASN name resolution
