About:
bandcamp-dl is a command-line utility that downloads albums and tracks from the Bandcamp music platform. It extracts high-quality audio files and organizes them with proper metadata tags, including artist, album, and track information. The tool simplifies the process of archiving and managing music collections from Bandcamp directly from the terminal.
|
Key Features:
- Downloads entire albums or individual tracks
- Embeds metadata (artist, album, track title) into audio files
- Supports high-quality audio formats (FLAC, MP3)
- Command-line interface for easy scripting and automation
- Parses Bandcamp pages to find downloadable content
|
Use Cases:
- Archiving purchased music from Bandcamp for local backup
- Batch downloading albums for offline listening
- Integrating with music library management tools
|
Alternatives:
-
youtube-dl
– Primarily focused on YouTube and other video platforms, but can sometimes handle Bandcamp; bandcamp-dl is specialized for Bandcamp's structure and metadata.
-
rip
– A more general-purpose music downloader; bandcamp-dl is specifically tailored for Bandcamp and offers better metadata handling for that platform.
