About:
Cntlm is a fast and lightweight NTLM proxy that authenticates against NTLM-based parent proxies. It supports connection tunneling and allows users to cache credentials, enabling seamless internet access through corporate firewalls from command-line tools and other applications.
Key Features:
  • High-performance authentication caching
  • Connection tunneling and port forwarding
  • Support for NTLMv2 and NTLMv1 protocols
  • Configurable via a single configuration file
  • Minimal resource footprint
Use Cases:
  • Enabling command-line tools (git, curl, wget) to work behind corporate NTLM proxies
  • Tunneling traffic through restrictive firewall environments
  • Centralizing proxy authentication for multiple applications on a single machine
Alternatives:
  • NTLMAPS – Cntlm is generally considered faster and more actively maintained than NTLMAPS.
  • Corkscrew – Corkscrew is for HTTP tunneling but lacks built-in NTLM authentication capabilities.
