About:
Jost is a versatile sans-serif typeface designed by Ondrej Jachny for Google Fonts. It serves as a modern reinterpretation of the iconic Futura font, offering improved legibility and a broader range of weights. Its geometric structure and open forms make it highly adaptable for both display and body text applications.
Key Features:
  • Geometric sans-serif design inspired by Futura
  • Extensive weight range from Thin (100) to Black (900)
  • Includes italics for all weights
  • OpenType features including ligatures and alternate characters
  • Free and open-source (OFL license)
Use Cases:
  • User interface design and web typography
  • Corporate branding and editorial layouts
  • Headlines and display text in digital media
Alternatives:
  • Futura – Classic geometric sans-serif; Jost is a free, open-source alternative with modern updates
  • Montserrat – Popular Google Font; Jost offers a more geometric, strictly Futura-inspired aesthetic
  • Poppins – Geometric sans-serif; Jost has sharper terminals and a more pronounced geometric construction
