About:
Grap is a domain-specific language for describing and typesetting mathematical graphs and diagrams. It processes textual descriptions of graphs and outputs typeset versions suitable for inclusion in documents. Its main value is providing a programmatic way to generate complex graphs for technical documentation.
Key Features:
  • Domain-specific language for graph description
  • Outputs to PostScript and other formats
  • Designed for integration with groff/troff
  • Programmatic graph generation
Use Cases:
  • Creating mathematical graphs for academic papers
  • Generating diagrams for technical documentation
  • Programmatic graph rendering in document pipelines
Alternatives:
  • ditaa – Focuses on ASCII art to diagram conversion rather than mathematical graphing
  • Graphviz – More widely used for general graph visualization but with different syntax and approach
