The tool supports multiple output formats and allows for easy customization of blocklists.
Key Features:
  • Aggregates blocklists from multiple sources
  • Supports multiple output formats (hosts, dnsmasq, etc.)
  • High performance and lightweight
  • Easy to customize and extend
Use Cases:
  • Enhancing network-wide privacy and security
  • Blocking ads and trackers on a local machine or router
  • Creating custom DNS blackholes for development environments
Alternatives:
  • StevenBlack/hosts – A popular unified hosts file project; Hblock acts as a generator/fetcher for similar results.
  • pi-hole – A network-wide ad blocker that requires a dedicated device; Hblock is a lightweight CLI alternative.
