About:
Inkstitch is a powerful, open-source extension for Inkscape that enables the creation and editing of machine embroidery designs. It translates vector graphics into embroidery file formats, providing tools for digitizing, lettering, and auto-routing stitches. Its main value is bridging the gap between graphic design software and embroidery machines.
Key Features:
  • Auto-generates stitch plans from vector paths
  • Supports multiple embroidery file formats (DST, PES, EXP, etc.)
  • Includes tools for lettering and satin column generation
  • Parametric stitch settings for precise control
  • Simulates stitch-out directly within Inkscape
Use Cases:
  • Creating custom embroidery designs from logos or artwork
  • Converting vector graphics for compatible embroidery machines
  • Editing and adjusting existing embroidery files
Alternatives:
  • Embrilliance – Commercial software with a beginner-friendly interface but lacks Inkscape integration.
  • SewingStudio – Legacy commercial software for digitizing and editing embroidery files.
