About:
iReal Pro is a comprehensive music app designed for musicians to create, edit, and practice chord charts and backing tracks. It offers a powerful song editor and a vast library of over 100,000 user-generated jazz, pop, and classical charts. Its main value is providing customizable, auto-generated accompaniment to simulate a real backing band for effective practice sessions.
Key Features:
  • Automated backing band with customizable styles and tempo
  • Large shared library of user-created chord charts
  • Advanced chord chart editor with music theory tools
  • Practice tools including looping and tempo ramping
Use Cases:
  • Practicing improvisation over jazz standards with a virtual band
  • Learning and arranging new songs with flexible chord voicings
Alternatives:
  • Band-in-a-Box – More powerful auto-accompaniment but desktop-focused and more expensive
  • ForScore – Excellent PDF management for sheet music but lacks automated audio backing
