About:
ISC DHCP is a robust, industry-standard DHCP server and relay agent implementation. It provides reliable IP address management for networked devices, supporting dynamic host configuration and failover capabilities. This formula delivers a production-grade solution for managing network infrastructure.
Key Features:
  • IPv4 and IPv6 support
  • High-availability failover protocol
  • Dynamic DNS updates
  • Extensive configuration options and hooks
  • Lease database backends (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL)
Use Cases:
  • Enterprise network infrastructure management
  • Internet Service Provider (ISP) customer premise equipment provisioning
  • Data center server and VM IP allocation
Alternatives:
  • dnsmasq – Lighter weight, suitable for smaller networks or local development, lacks advanced failover features
  • Kea DHCP – ISC's modern, modular DHCP server with a control agent and database support, considered the successor to ISC DHCP
