About:
Jupp is a professional, lightweight screen editor designed for programmers, offering a powerful and efficient editing environment directly in the terminal. It provides a rich set of features for code manipulation and navigation, making it a robust choice for developers working in console-based or remote environments. Its design prioritizes speed and functionality for technical users.
Key Features:
  • Powerful macro programming language for automation
  • Context-sensitive help and intuitive keybindings
  • Multiple undo/redo and extensive search capabilities
  • Support for syntax highlighting and regular expressions
Use Cases:
  • Editing source code and configuration files on remote servers via SSH
  • Automating complex editing tasks with custom macros
  • Lightweight development in resource-constrained environments
Alternatives:
  • vim – Vim is more ubiquitous and has a larger plugin ecosystem, but Jupp offers a more consistent and integrated feature set out-of-the-box.
  • emacs – Emacs is an extensible Lisp machine with a steeper learning curve, whereas Jupp is a more focused and immediately usable text editor.
  • nano – Nano is simpler and easier for beginners, but Jupp provides significantly more advanced features for power users.
