About:
Matterhorn is a terminal-based user interface for Mattermost, written in Haskell. It provides a lightweight and efficient chat experience directly within the terminal, ideal for developers who prefer keyboard-driven workflows. The client supports core Mattermost features like channels, direct messages, threads, and file uploads without requiring a GUI.
Key Features:
  • Terminal-based TUI for keyboard-centric navigation
  • Support for threads, mentions, and file attachments
  • Minimal resource usage compared to Electron-based clients
  • Configurable keybindings and themes
Use Cases:
  • Remote development workflows using SSH and terminal multiplexers
  • Managing Mattermost communications on headless servers
Alternatives:
  • mattermost-web – Official web client; requires a browser and more system resources
  • mattermost-desktop – Official desktop wrapper; provides a GUI experience but is Electron-based
