About:
Middle is a macOS utility that enables three-finger and two-finger click gestures on Trackpads and Magic Mice to simulate a middle mouse button. This functionality is essential for power users who rely on middle-click for actions like opening links in new tabs or closing tabs in browsers. It provides a seamless, native-feeling integration without requiring hardware modifications.
Key Features:
  • Supports both Trackpad and Magic Mouse hardware
  • Configurable gesture sensitivity and activation zones
  • Runs unobtrusively in the menu bar
  • Native Apple Silicon support
Use Cases:
  • Web developers and designers needing middle-click for browser tab management
  • Users wanting to close documents or folders quickly with a middle-click
  • CAD or 3D modeling users requiring middle-mouse button panning
Alternatives:
  • BetterTouchTool – More comprehensive but heavier; Middle is focused solely on middle-click gestures.
  • SteerMouse – Paid utility for mouse customization; Middle is free and gesture-focused.
