NATS Streaming Server is a high-performance, lightweight cloud messaging system designed for at-most-once and at-least-once message delivery. This server complements the core NATS system by adding advanced streaming features.
Key Features:
  • Log-based message persistence
  • At-least-once and at-most-once delivery
  • High-performance message streaming
  • Message replay and history
  • Durable subscriptions
Use Cases:
  • Real-time telemetry and metrics aggregation

Alternatives:
  • RabbitMQ – More complex, offers advanced routing but heavier resource footprint
  • Apache Kafka – Higher throughput for massive scale but significantly more complex to operate
