About:
qrcp is a command-line tool that creates a temporary web server to share files over a local network. It generates a QR code containing the server's local IP address and port, which you can scan with a mobile device to initiate a file transfer. This eliminates the need for cables, email attachments, or cloud services for quick, ad-hoc file sharing.
|
Key Features:
- Transfer files via QR code scan
- Works both as a sender and receiver
- No installation required on the receiving device
- Supports specifying port and network interface
- Simple command-line interface
|
Use Cases:
- Quickly transferring photos/videos from a phone to a computer
- Sharing a configuration file or log snippet during troubleshooting
|
Alternatives:
-
Magic Wormhole
– Uses a code phrase instead of a QR code, requires terminal on both ends
-
Snapdrop
– Web-based, uses a local network web UI instead of QR codes
