About:
Quiet is a decentralized, peer-to-peer team chat application that operates without central servers. It leverages Tor for anonymous networking and IPFS for distributed data storage, ensuring that messages are end-to-end encrypted and only accessible to intended participants. This architecture provides censorship resistance and enhanced privacy compared to traditional messaging platforms.
|
Key Features:
- Serverless P2P architecture using IPFS
- Anonymous networking via Tor integration
- End-to-end encryption by default
- Open source and community governed
|
Use Cases:
- Secure team communication for remote or distributed teams
- Censorship-resistant chat for activists and journalists
- Private messaging without reliance on centralized infrastructure
|
Alternatives:
-
Slack
– Centralized, requires trust in a service provider
-
Discord
– Centralized, collects user data and metadata
-
Matrix
– Federated rather than fully P2P, requires homeservers
