About:
Slacknimate is a command-line tool that creates text animations for Slack messages by rapidly updating message content. It generates frame-by-frame animations using standard input or predefined patterns, allowing for dynamic, attention-grabbing messages within Slack's API limitations.
Key Features:
  • Frame-by-frame animation via stdin or CLI arguments
  • Supports looping and one-shot animations
  • Configurable frame rate and animation speed
  • Simple integration with Slack's chat.postMessage API
Use Cases:
  • Creating engaging status updates or announcements in team channels
  • Building simple ASCII art animations for fun or emphasis
  • Automating dynamic notifications from scripts or CI/CD pipelines
Alternatives:
  • slack-term – Terminal-based Slack client, not focused on message animation
  • Manual Slack formatting – Static text formatting only, lacks automated animation capabilities
