About:
Smartmontools contains two utility programs (smartctl and smartd) that control and monitor storage systems using the Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology (SMART) system built into most modern ATA/SATA and SCSI/SAS hard drives and solid-state drives. The tools can be used to actively monitor disk health, predict potential failures, and run automated tests to detect and report drive integrity issues.
