About:
StremioService is a companion application that runs in the background to enable the full functionality of Stremio Web, a media center platform. It provides essential backend services, such as add-on support and local streaming, allowing the web interface to access and organize content from various online sources. Its main value is seamlessly connecting the lightweight web client to a powerful, extensible media library.
Key Features:
  • Background service for Stremio Web
  • Enables add-on and extension support
  • Facilitates local network streaming and casting
  • Lightweight, always-on companion process
Use Cases:
  • Using Stremio Web as a full-featured media center
  • Streaming personal media libraries or online content to other devices
  • Managing and accessing video add-ons from a web browser
Alternatives:
  • Plex Media Server – A full media server for personal libraries with remote access, whereas StremioService is a lightweight companion focused on aggregating online content and add-ons for the Stremio platform.
