About:
Toilet is a command-line tool that renders large-format text banners using color characters and ASCII art. It leverages the libcaca library to create visually striking text effects suitable for terminal displays. This tool serves as a feature-rich alternative to the classic figlet utility.
Key Features:
  • Renders text using color characters and ASCII art
  • Supports various fonts and filters for visual effects
  • Leverages libcaca for cross-platform terminal graphics
  • Provides high-quality output for terminal banners
Use Cases:
  • Creating eye-catching terminal startup banners
  • Generating ASCII art text for scripts and automation
  • Producing formatted text for terminal-based presentations
Alternatives:
  • figlet – Classic tool for ASCII banners, but lacks color support and advanced visual effects
  • cowsay – Creates speech bubbles with animal characters, focused on humor rather than large text
