About:
UFTP (UDP-based File Transfer Protocol) is a secure and efficient multicast file transfer tool. It leverages UDP for high-speed distribution to multiple receivers while using TLS for encryption and integrity. This makes it ideal for reliable bulk data transfers over networks where traditional TCP-based tools face scalability issues.
Key Features:
  • UDP-based multicast file transfer
  • TLS encryption for secure data transmission
  • Reliable transfer with resume capabilities
  • Low CPU and memory footprint
Use Cases:
  • Distributing large software updates to multiple servers
  • Broadcasting data files to a fleet of embedded devices
  • Rapid deployment of content across a local network
Alternatives:
  • rsync – TCP-based and point-to-point, better for incremental updates rather than bulk distribution
  • iperf – Network testing tool, not designed for actual file transfer operations
