About:
Valkyrie is a digital suite of tools designed to act as a Game Master for board games originally released by Fantasy Flight Games. It allows users to run quests, campaigns, and scenarios like Descent: Journeys in the Dark and Mansions of Madness on a tablet or PC. The software manages game state, events, and enemy AI, enabling solo or cooperative play without a physical game master.
Key Features:
  • Digital Game Master automation for FFG board games
  • Supports multiple scenarios and full campaigns
  • Cross-platform availability including macOS, Windows, and Android
  • Import and manage custom community-made content
Use Cases:
  • Playing cooperative board games solo without a human game master
  • Managing complex game state and enemy AI digitally during tabletop sessions
  • Accessing and playing community-created scenarios for supported games
Alternatives:
  • Tabletop Simulator – Provides a physics-based sandbox for playing any board game, but requires manual setup and lacks Valkyrie's specific game master automation.
  • Fantasy Flight Games Official Apps – Official companion apps for specific games like Mansions of Madness, but Valkyrie offers broader game support and community content.
