About:
WWWOFFLE is a proxy server designed for computers with intermittent or slow internet connections. It allows users to browse the web offline by automatically fetching and caching pages when a connection is available. The tool manages a queue of requested pages, making it ideal for dial-up or unreliable networks.
Key Features:
  • Offline web browsing and caching
  • Automatic fetching of queued pages
  • Support for HTTP and FTP protocols
  • Configurable via web interface
Use Cases:
  • Browsing the web on dial-up or intermittent connections
  • Pre-downloading websites for offline research
  • Managing bandwidth usage on slow networks
Alternatives:
  • Polipo – Polipo is a smaller, caching proxy but lacks the specific offline queuing workflow of WWWOFFLE.
  • Squid – Squid is a full-featured caching proxy for enterprise networks, more complex to configure for simple offline browsing.
