About:
Taskbar is a macOS utility that replicates the familiar Windows taskbar interface, serving as a functional replacement for the native Dock. It organizes running applications into a linear, persistent strip at the bottom of the screen, complete with window grouping and active window indicators. This tool provides a nostalgic workflow for users migrating from Windows or anyone seeking a more compact and information-dense application switcher.
Key Features:
  • Windows-style linear taskbar layout
  • Application window grouping and management
  • Active window highlighting and progress indicators
  • Customizable position and appearance
Use Cases:
  • Windows users transitioning to macOS who prefer the classic taskbar workflow
  • Users seeking a more compact and information-dense alternative to the Dock
Alternatives:
  • macOS Dock – The native macOS Dock offers a more visually oriented, icon-based launcher, whereas Taskbar provides a list-based, window-centric approach.
  • uBar – uBar is a more feature-rich commercial alternative with extensive customization, while Taskbar focuses on a lightweight and authentic Windows experience.
